The Twin Cities Auto Show, it's like a normal car show except everything is stock and you can get into any car you want. While the Auto Show achieved a high level of lameness during the recession, it seems the car brands are well on their way from their Great Recession malaise. With all of the cool new models which have come out in the last couple of years, a trip to the auto show is a necessity.
The new Ford Focus RS will be on display from Ford, which will be a very interesting car to see develop. This is the first time there has been a really solid competitor to the STI in quite some time, at least since the Evolution X. With the exception of the VW Golf R, all of the other competitors are two wheel drive.
Speaking of Two Wheel Drive, the new Mazda Miata RF is going to be awesome to see up close. Mazda has been on a roll and can't seem to get enough of making sporty cars, I won't complain about that. This will be the first time the United States has been given a Miata Coupe. Well almost, it's a Miata targa top so it's the best of both worlds.
A special treat for the MN Tesla club, the Twin Cities Auto Show is including a whole exhibit on the electric car market this year as well. 10 years ago that would sound beyond lame with a room full of Mitsubishi i-MiEVs, with pictures and placards being all wax poetic over the GM EV-1. The Electric Room will feature all the necessary information for a trouble free electric car ownership experience. Thanks to Tesla and some new BMW products however, these cars are quickly becoming the highest performance cars in the show. A lot of us will need this information as Teslas come down in price. Gone are the days of the the sad electric commuter car, bring on the sports cars!
This will be one of the best Auto Shows we've had in years. We'll see you all there!
