Do you ever find yourself complaining that prohibitively expensive classic Bugattis and Ferraris don't spend enough time being driven in anger? Perhaps you just want to see literally every car on earth driven in anger on a hill climb. Then Goodwood is the event for you.
If you have not heard of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, it is a weekend long event held on the grounds of Goodwood House in Sussex, England. The event has been held since 1993 as an attempt to bring racing back to Goodwood Estate. It has evolved into one of the world's best motorsports event featuring everything from Formula 1 cars to 100 year old land speed record cars taking the famous hill climb.
These cars aren't just gingerly puttered along like some Yorkie at the Westminster Kennel Club show either, they're driven at full hoon in absolute anger, Note the facial expressions of the gentlemen above.
Of course, not all the cars come back in one piece like this RS200 which crashed yesterday or the Mazda 787B which ate it back in 2015. It takes balls of steel to drive a car worth more than the average Wayzata home like this.
Although it's quite expensive and a bucket list event to go to Goodwood, you can live vicariously through the magic of Goodwood's YouTube livestream. I have had it playing at my desk at work for the last 2 days and you should too.
